🏔️ Our Banff Family Adventure: 6 Days in the Rockies

Our Banff Family Adventure: 6 Days in the Rockies

By The Johnson Family, Dallas, USA

Banff had always been on our family’s dream list. With two kids under 12, we wanted a mix of adventure, comfort, and activities that were fun for everyone. We decided to book a Banff family vacation package that included tours, hotel stays, and transfers—making it stress-free for us parents.

Day 1 – Arrival in Banff Town

We flew into Calgary and took a shuttle straight to Banff. Our hotel was family-friendly with spacious rooms and even a pool for the kids. After checking in, we strolled down Banff Avenue, stopping for ice cream and browsing souvenir shops.

Day 2 – Lake Louise with the Kids

The kids were thrilled to see the turquoise waters of Lake Louise. Instead of hiking, we rented a canoe, which was perfect for the whole family. Later, we walked a short lakeside trail—easy enough for the kids but still rewarding with stunning views.

Day 3 – Banff Gondola & Wildlife Tour

We took the Banff Gondola up Sulphur Mountain, and the kids loved the ride. At the top, we walked the boardwalk trail together and enjoyed a family lunch overlooking the Rockies. In the evening, our guide took us on a wildlife safari tour, and we spotted elk and mountain goats. The kids couldn’t stop talking about it!

Day 4 – Johnston Canyon Hike

We wanted something active but manageable for the kids, so we chose the Johnston Canyon hike. The waterfalls, bridges, and tunnels made it feel like an adventure playground. The Lower Falls was the perfect turnaround point for little legs.

Day 5 – Banff Upper Hot Springs & Relaxation

After days of exploring, we spent a relaxing day soaking in the Banff Upper Hot Springs. The warm mineral waters were a hit with the kids. Later, we relaxed at our hotel pool and had a casual family dinner in town.

Day 6 – Icefields Parkway & Farewell Banff

On our final day, we drove along the Icefields Parkway, stopping at Peyto Lake for a family photo. The dramatic scenery gave us memories we’ll cherish forever.

Why Banff is Perfect for Families

Our Banff family trip had the right balance of adventure and relaxation. With plenty of kid-friendly activities, family hotels, and guided tours, Banff made traveling with kids easy and enjoyable. If you’re planning a family vacation to Banff, I highly recommend booking a package—it saves time and keeps everyone happy.
